Adventures Through America is a fun introduction to early American history for elementary grades (great for K-5th) by using great books and hands-on activities to bring learning to life.
This guide covers 4 units in the early development of the United States: American Revolution, Lewis & Clark expedition, the Oregon Trail, and the Civil War.
Each unit is a 4-week study. Included for every unit is a book list, supply list, weekly guide, and multiple activity instructions (with photo examples) and recipes. The weekly guide is broken into 3-4 short, open & go lessons but can easily be joined together or moved around to fit into your schedule. The lessons guide you on what to read, videos to watch, projects or recipe suggestions, map labeling, and prompts to fill in notebook pages.
At the end of each unit, your children will be adding a diary entry of what they learned to their “Explorer Journal.” Instructions and writing prompts are included.
Each of the 4 units require 2 books needed (last photo shares a list.) The book list in each unit provides additional book suggestions and read aloud/chapter books, that can also be used as replacements. Required books can be found on Amazon or on secondhand websites- search titles on bookfinder.com or thriftbooks.com.
Full guide is 149 pages but made to be printed double-sided.
-Part 1 of this curriculum is available in my shop and can also be completed before this one for a full year American history curriculum. Adventures to the New World covers the exploration of America with the Vikings, Christopher Columbus, Jamestown, and the Mayflower.
All units are also sold individually.

The Adventures To/Through America studies have been a huge hit in our family. This is the first history curriculum we have been able to stick with all year! It’s a great mix of informational texts, videos, and hands on projects. I felt like lessons were simple to prep and customize to our needs. Both of my boys enjoyed the lessons and we have learned so much. We love this curriculum and highly recommend it!

My twin first graders have been working on the Adventures Through America history & it has been SO much fun!!! Highly recommend!!! We’re working through the Oregon Trail unit now, and have done all the ones before it in the series. It has been hands on learning with great literature, mapping activities, easy crafts and recipes.

We use My Father’s Word (currently have a 2nd grader using Adventures in USHistory from MFW) for our homeschool core curriculum and this Adventures through American History complements our core curriculum perfectly! The art projects make our history lessons come alive, and actually turn out to be something display worthy. We have thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!!
