We are almost to the middle of our summer break, but have still kept up with lots of reading each day! Every afternoon we have a quiet reading time where everyone grabs their books, a comfy spot, and we read for about 30-45 min. Throughout the summer I let my kids choose what books they want to read from the library. Finding a series they love helps so much in encouraging them to read more.
If you are curious on checking if books are appropriate instead of pre-reading all of them you can check them out on these websites: CommonSenseMedia.org, PluggedIn.com, RedeemedReader.com OR check Amazon and Goodreads reviews! If there is a hidden agenda or something inappropriate in a book, believe me, there is an upset mother in the comments letting you know! Haha!
Today I want to share with you more beginner chapter books for boys that my 8 year old son has been loving. He is starting to read a little more advanced chapter books, but still loves lots of illustrations.
Check out lots of other beginner chapter books to start with HERE. Beginner chapter books for girls can be found HERE. I’ll be sharing some advanced chapter books for girls soon.
*I personally love to be able to look inside a book to get a feel of the difficulty level and see if I think it would overwhelm my son or not, so I have included a peek at the inside of as many as I could, so you can get a good idea for your child’s level.
Click the title of each book if you wish to read a synopsis of what it’s about or read reviews. Most of these books have multiple titles in their series, so be sure to check them all out if they fall in love with one!
