November is almost here, and it’s the perfect time to add a simple study on gratitude, the history of Thanksgiving, or ways to connect and create together.

We don’t always do a study in November, I usually do one every other year, but we have used some great ones! Today I’ve rounded up all the November homeschool resources we have used in past years as well as some fun learning activities and crafts.

*Sorry for the quality of some of these photos; I had to dig through the archive for things we have used over the years. ☺️

The Mayflower Unit Study by Little School of Smiths

This is such a fun guide all about the Mayflower, the voyage, Native tribes, the first year in the New World, and the First Thanksgiving. It brings learning to life through fun books, projects, recipes, and more!

It is a simple 4 week unit study you can use all November that includes a book list, supply list, weekly guide, multiple hands-on activities, and recipes. The lessons guide you on what to read, videos to watch, projects or recipe suggestions, map labeling, and prompts to fill in narration notebook pages. Great for elementary grades (ages 5-10) & learning together as a family!

Gratitude Printable Pack by Not Consumed

These are FREE gratitude printables from Not Consumed. We added this to our morning time one year, writing what we are thankful for with the journal prompts and memorizing Bible verses with a fun puzzle game.

Thanksgiving Unit Study by Brighter Day Press

If you need something short, this unity study (photo above) is nice and simple, and only a week long, all about the Thanksgiving story. This a beautiful guide we enjoyed when my kids were younger and learned through picture books, hands-on activities, baking and hymns.

Gratitude & Thanksgiving Learning Pack by The Masterpiece Studio

We enjoyed a few of these monthly packs in previous years by The Masterpiece Studio. I love that it gives you a calendar with a simple activity to do each day whether that be reading a book, baking, or an art project. Great for the whole family and everything included: coloring pages, artist studies, journal prompts, recipes, etc. *I do believe the calendar is updated each year.

Turkey Unit Study

One year we even just did a simple study on turkeys! This pack from TPT was great! We learned all about their life cycle, feathers, anatomy and more. We added a few turkey crafts (shared below,) some fun picture books from the library, watched some videos, and it made the perfect unit study!

Math & Word Family Activity

These are just some simple activities with popsicle sticks, construction paper, and paper cups, I used for my kids when they were beginning math and reading word families.

Add the same number of popsicle sticks to each turkey.
Read the popsicle stick and place it in the correct word family cup.

Projects & Crafts

Thankful Turkey

We loved doing this project and did it for many years. A smaller version of this project is included in the Mayflower Unit. This one was made on cardboard. See a tutorial on how to make it HERE!

Leaf Turkeys

Great fall project! Perfect activity for kids to make on Thanksgiving while waiting for dinner or make them prior and use as place card holders for the table!

Footprint Turkeys

Such a cute project and keepsake, especially with little ones. Make it on a canvas to share as decoration in your home each year.

Favorite Thanksgiving Picture Books & Chapter Books

Here are some of our favorite picture books and chapter books (great for read alouds) for November and Thanksgiving!

All linked here!

I hope all these ideas and books are inspiration to make your days fun this November! I’ll have a post coming soon about everything we have used for December/Christmas school too!

Wishing you a great week!
