For the past 2 weeks we have been learning all about bugs. The first bug we chose to focus on was the Ladybug.

“The ladybug wears no disguises. She is just what she advertises. A speckled spectacle of spring, a fashion statement on the wing. A miniature orange kite…a dot-to-dot delight.”

-J. Patrick Lewis

I love ladybugs and feel that ladybugs (just like butterflies) are so magical. In our house, my youngest son’s room is also known as the “ladybug room.” Tons of ladybugs make their way inside, we guess to keep warm, but then always die. So along the windowsills you can always find a bunch of dead ladybugs. 😆 My kids love to look at them with their magnifying glasses.

Check out all the fun things we did learning about ladybugs this week:

If you don’t have a bunch of dead ones to look at and explore like we do, you can even grow your own ladybugs with this Inset Lore Ladybug Land with live larvae.

We had these super cute (and easy to throw together 😉) snacks. Mini Baby Bell Cheese wheels to look like ladybugs.

And of course we did 2 crafts. We painted a paper plate with pom poms to look like a ladybug and used an apple to stamp ladybugs on a leaf.

We had so much fun learning all about ladybugs and can’t wait to study another insect! 🐛

Have a great week!
